Where can I buy needles and bobbins for a treadle sewing machine (Minnesota A)?

Grandma uses her old sewing machine to sew quilts. She could use a few long needles and bobbins.

According to the ISMACS needle list, the Minnesota A uses the same needles that current sewing machines use; 15x1 aka SY2020, 130/705H, 130R. Pick 'em up at any fabric store or sewing machine shop. For piecing quilts, she'll want sharps (Schmetz "microtex" or "jeans" points), for quilting, she may want regular quilting needles or she may want to use the jeans points.

Size 12/80 for piecing, usually 14/90 or 16/100 for quilting.

For bobbins, try Guy Baker: http://www.sewingmachineparts.net/ or Cindy Peters: stitchesintime@earthlink.net and if they can't help, ask at the yahoo group "wefixit".

    Treadle Sewing Machine For Sale

  • Check on line they offer many types for machines. The treadle name would be a good place to start. If its singer (which most are I think) most fabric stores can help u with the size for the fabric type u use. There are some more knowledge than others, the ones that sell sewing machine would be ur best.
