unsafe health issue in tennis.?
In the match between Nadal and Nalbandian, Nadal had called for the trainer for a blister problem on his foot. The trainer, to my surprise, came and took care of it, cleaning it, applying some cream or lotion on it and taping it BUT he was not wearing any gloves. I hate to be the next guy to shake his hands. If the blister had broken and it was an open wound it would pose a health threat to Nadal as well as the trainer.

Since the trainers have a strong medical background, IMHO, they would most likely be very meticulous about washing their hands before and after treating a player. So as far as the trainers concerned, I doubt that this would have posed a problem. FYI, I am not a doctor and I don't play on one TV!
If the gloves slow him down a bit, the trainer may have chosen not to use them for that reason. Trainers appear to have to work very quickly in the few minutes they have with a player, somewhat like the pit crews in NASCAR, Formula 1, etc :-)
