How can I get my computer to recognize Kindles?
I'm stuck with the task of updating the software on thirty Kindles(2nd generation). Unfortunately, I have been unable to get my computer to recognize the Kindles through USB.
Things that are NOT the problem:
USB ports: They work just fine with everything else
Kindles: No way 30 Kindles all have the same problem
Kindle Cord: Ditto above
I've tried restarting my computer with Kindle attached. I've tried resetting Kindles.
What will work where I have failed as of yet?

What OS are you running? This appears to be a common problem with the Kindle 2 and XP, not that knowing this helps much. One suggestion from Amazon is to try a reboot of the Kindle before connecting it. Also, how long is the USB cable? If you have a modern, fast PC, it could be a timing issue on a longer cable. Barring that, try posting at the MobileRead Forums - http://www.mobileread.com/ - lots of people there with Kindles and troubleshooting experience with them.

I'm not much of a fan of e-readers, but I think you might need to download software that may have come packaged on CDs with the Kindles. Some devices will not recognize unless you already have software installed onto the computer which will tell the computer to find the devices and recognize them.

Mi Kindle que he comprado en Amazon esta excelente y estoy muy contenta de él, tanto que también he comprado uno para regalar, un excelente regalo por poco dinero, mi amiga esta fascinada con su nuevo dispositivo, pude leer en cualquier lugar, sin interrupciones y es como leer un libro de verdad pero sin papel y peso.
