Electric field question?

I'm having some trouble figuring this question out.

Point charge q1 = -5.00 nC is at the origin and point charge q2 = +3.00 nC is on the x -axis at x = 3.00 cm. Point P is on the y-axis at y = 4.00 cm.

a. Calculate the electric fields E1 and E2 at point P due to charges q1 and q2. Express the answer in terms of unit vectors.

If I can figure this out, I can solve for the second part of the question. So any have some advice about how to approach this and/or solve it?

    Always start with a clear diagram. These are messy, so I don't guarantee the arithmetic.

    ____________________________________

    Find the field at P due to q1:

    E1 = kq1/r^2 = 8.99x10^9 x -5.00x10^-9/(0.04^2)

    = -2.809x10^4 V/m

    Note the direction of E2; a positive charge at P would move in the -y direction.

    In component form E1 = (0i -2.809x10^4j) V/m

    This should be rounded to 3 signifincat figures (same as the data in the question):

    E1 = (0i -2.81x10^4j) V/m

    Find the field at P due to q2:

    From your diagram, you will see the distance from q2 to P = 5cm(=0.05m) as there is a 3/4/5 triangle.

    E2 = kq1/r^2 = 8.99x10^9 x 3.00x10^-9/(0.05^2)

    = 1.079x10^4 V/m

    Note the direction of E2; a positive charge at P would have components in the +y and -x directions

    E2 makes an angle A with the -x direction where cos(A) = 3/5 and sin(A)=4/5.

    Component of E2 in -x direction = E2cos(A) = 1.079x10^4 x 3/5 =6.474x10^3 V/m

    Component of E2 in +y direction = E2sin(A) = 1.079x10^4 x 4/5 =8.632x10^3 V/m

    In component from E2 = (-6.474x10^3i + 8.632x10^3j) V/m

    This should be rounded to 3 signifincat figures (same as the data in the question):

    E2 = (-6.47x10^3i + 8.63x10^3j) V/m

    electric powered container E= - dV /dr As ability is consistent dV / dr =0 for this reason electric powered container is 0 in a region the position electric powered ability is consistent. as an social gathering, interior a hollow charged matallic sphere, the electric powered container IS 0 inspite of the indisputable fact that the aptitude interior is consistent and equivalent to ability on the suface of charged sphere
