help, whats on "The compufixers" disc?
My granny had a phone call telling her she had bugs etc on her computer and she should buy a security package, £273 for 2 years with a free year thrown in. She bought it. This was the 3rd time in about 2 months that she had been scammed. "The Compufixers sent her a disc for Bullguards security Gamers Edition (she's 75) and another disc, which was clearly a blank cd with a compufixers disc sticker on it, not proffessional at all. i have inserted the disc into muy old laptop. It has 3 files on it which are:
a pic of a file called nf and underneath says file folder
a pic of a page and a cog which says autotun setup information 49 bytes
a pic of blank page with firefox logo which says index Firefox document 1.02 KB
Do you know what these files are or are they completely useless rubbish?
I need to give all this info to her credit card company to get her money back
pulsar - the bullguards disc was a free gift it was the other useless disc that cost as well as their help if she ever has a problem but she couldnt get hold of them again, they all have indian accents but very english names. the credit card company said the money was taken by "Hireridge Ltd", I googles them and they are based in Limerick. Another company similar to compufixers and linked to Hireridge is support4pcs.co.uk but if you google them there is a lot of "bad press" so i assume "compufixers is the new name and website as people had got wise to support4pcs.

Completely Useless Rubbish Indeed :)
"This was the 3rd time in about 2 months that she had been scammed"
I Think you should talk her into getting a new Phone Number..
They will Keep Calling and no offence but 3 times.. Wow they must love her.
Change her Number, Remove the Damn Phone if need be lol
Reporting it to the Police is an Option but Dont expect a solution from it.
I'd Just Seek Reimbursement and Learn my Lesson.
Hope it helps :)

There is lots of these scams going around at the moment. DO NOT RUN anything on the CD. Report it to police and seek advice from the CAB.

Complete rubbish and a scam. Can't tell you anything about the files without the disk.
