How to change my balance?

Hey guys, I have a real problem with my left foot moving during my swing and therefore I'm losing distance and sometimes even pull it way left. Anything I can do such as drills to help this? Thanks!

    I assume you are right-handed.

You do want to shift your weight from your left side to your right side on the backswing and then shift your weight back to the left side during your forward swing.

Your left heel might come off the ground, but otherwise shouldn't move from your address spot. Same for your right foot.

I'm trying to imagine completely moving my left foot during the swing. Once I had a hard time shifting my weight to the right side, so my pro had me try lifting my left foot off the ground to bring the weight over to the right. During the forward swing, my left foot naturally came down so I could put weight on it.

Please have a pro take a look at your alignment, tilt, and stance. If he knows exactly what problem you are having, he can work specifically to fix that problem.

    Good luck with golf.

Maverick, try this tip. When addressing the ball make certain your right arm is about six inches from your body, arms straight and not tensed in the swing. Shift center of body to right leg on the back swing and go slow in that swing. Down (forward) swing ease weight back to the left foot as you turn the hips into the hit. Remember that the shoulders move the arms which should not be a power push. AND for added balance when taking a back swing step on the inside of the left foot but not lift foot off ground. The slight lift will give you added control of your weight shift.

Hi. Legendary instructor Harvey Pennick's "magic move" should be able to help you with your balance AND hit longer & straighter golf shots. This is one move, not two, and must happen simultaneously.

The left foot-right elbow move is returning the left heel to the ground and the right elbow to the body simultaneously to start the down swing. This position is known as "the slot".

To start your downswing, let your weight shift to your left foot while bringing your right elbow back down to your body. Think about softly squishing a bug with your left foot to start your downswing. This swing thought correctly starts your legs and a weight shift for a down the line swing.

Let gravity drop your arms. This is an awesome downswing swing thought to prevent the over the top move that causes so many amateurs to slice the ball. It should also help you feel the lag when transitioning AND will allow your right elbow to drop into the "slot".

Sounds to me like you have too much weight on your heels because you're standing too close to the ball, so when you swing you have to shift your weight back to get your body out of the way, and your left foot ends up pointing toward the target. If that seems right, try moving back from the ball -- when you take your stance, imagine you're a football lineman at the line of scrimmage getting ready for the snap.
