Could the Cats be in Trouble?

While all appears cosy and comforting at the catery, they could well be in a little trouble. Geelong struggled to get on the board in the first quarter before 2 questionable frees assisted Menzel, now finished for the year, slot 2 goals. The Cats current style of long bombs to the forward 50 is a ploy often used by tired aging teams, to save on work rate, so too is the constant back chatting of umpires, showing weakness. While Hawkins currently performs with a rocket, to keep his place ahead of Mooney, when all is exploited in coming games, the question might collectively be, will they have the "legs" for a plan B. On supercoach stats the Hawks won the game by 144 points, 1724 to 1580, another indicator some older cats are dragging the chain. The Hawks inaccuracy from set shots, saved the Cats from playing catch up footy in ordinary conditions. The Hawks still had more scoring shots in the game at 3/4 time, until the "Buddy" Franklin injury in the final quarter simply broke their spirit.

DW - you're fair dinkum on drugs mate! :-)

I won't get into the umpiring debate - it's just too ludicrous to argue with! Check the facts

But did you watch the game the week before? In fine conditions the Cats used a lightning fast, through-the-corridor game that was way quicker than anything the Pies (by far the quickest team to that point) could muster.

This week, there was stuff that we on planet Earth give names like 'rain' and 'wind' - now you've played enough games to know that you sometimes change your tactics when the ball's harder to pass with precision. The Hawks tried to smother the game particularly at half back, the Cats replied by long bombing to a very effective forward line. Different day - different brain cells. It also helped that Ottens was smashing the centre bounce ruck and we often didn't NEED any more than one kick to find a target.

As for some cats being down ... they were the defence - Scarlett, Mackie, Hunt ... maybe because the Hawks were too useless and buddy centric to get the ball that far down, maybe because they were concentrating on spoiling and defending which gets you SFA dream team points. Those guys actually had average games - so what?

Keep believing that the Cats are done - we'll love it!! Fair dinkum unbelievable!!

Ignatia is the homeopathic remedy for grief. You can purchase a vial of pellets (30C) from a health foods store. Get an amber bottle with dropper at the same time. You put four or five pellets in the bottle and fill it with filtered water. When the pellets are dissolved tap the bottle about ten times and put a teaspoon of the liquid into 1/4 cup of filtered water. Give your cat a dropperful of that liquid then discard it. Give another dropperful the next day - taking a teaspoon from the amber bottle again and mixing it with another 1/4 cup of filtered water. You should have enough still in the amber bottle to use the third day. Misty needs to eat something in the next day. Try some baby food from the grocery store - chicken or turkey are best. The baby food must have NO ONION or garlic powder so read the labels carefully. See if Misty will eat something from your finger and feed her a fingerful every several hours till she will eat on her own.

They are in deep trouble. They have a week off and are into another prelim final, the only team to beat Collingwood. Big concerns. Not to mention one of their best (and comps. best) midfielders in Joel Corey to come back into the line up. Long bombs? Ok, so you run through the centre corridor and kick it long to a contest where you have a clear advantage over a shorter backlink. What was Geelong's coaching panel thinking?

And geez, every coach must be worried that another team had more supercoach points too. If you went by that, Patrick Bowden was one of the best players in the competition a few years back.

Come the end of the year (should Geelong win the flag), we will probably hear you say that Geelong are in trouble for next year too.

Deedubya, where have you been since last friday week ? Geelong has taken apart the top and third best teams in the comp this season and couldn't have been more impressive in doing so ( in my opinion ), The big " Hairy Cat " Cam Mooney can come in and cover for the unlucky Menzel in a forthnight, so I don't see any problems there ? Sometimes I reckon we believe what we have just witnessed may be just an abberation, but to my way of seeing the Geelong Cats are the " real-McCoy" and are going to prove mighty hard to knock-over come Oct 1st 2011 .

We dont know yet Deeduya, I would like to see a few more results before commiting on that.

They create their own luck, so presently they are on a run. But undoubtedly a top side and if they won a GF it would not be a surprise.
