Long distance relationship? Just want some comfort?

I'm in a long distance relationship and my girlfriend and I are talking. We really love each other and have been together a year and half prior to my moving. I guess I just need some more encouragement. Any successful long distance relationship stories out there? I always hear how hard they are and how often they fail it's discouraging. What's your story?

This Question seems perfect for me and I think I have a good answer. Me and my bf were going out for 5 months prior to him moving away to University (6 hours away). We saw each other every 3 weeks. I was madly in love with him and all sorts of thought came into my head. Will it work.... will he leave me.... is he being faithful....

Im going to be honest, we broke up because I was too much of a fuss.

A month later we got back together and now we are strong as ever. Been together 2 and a half years now. he's finished uni and we're looking for a place together now to start our life together, even though it started when I first saw him.

It was hard, I wont lie, its painful but you can do it. Call each other, text e-mail, skype. Me and my bf used to write letters. Even though we have email we liked writing as it was personal. Im 19 now and hes 21.

Make sure you keep seeing her. Do whatever it takes.

    Good luck

    EDIT: >>>>>>

I'd like to add that I was 16. I cant buy alcahol legally in the UK until im 18. But it still worked, but the guy above does have a point. If he goes out and you cant, there may be a problem.

    EDIT again>>>>

Like I said I only saw my boyfriend once a month and it still worked.

They can work if the people involved can see each other. If you can't afford to see her or you aren't old enough to buy a beer, then you need not be in a long distance relationship. That's the reality of it.

I was in one for years and it was great, but we were both adults. I had a job and could afford to travel. Not being able to see each other = failed relationship. End of story.

    EDIT -

The girl below me just proved my point exactly. You have to be able see each other.

you opt to be mentally arranged to handle the low factors of the relationship. You the two will bypass over one yet yet another very plenty. You the two will choose a extreme area of have confidence. the finest extreme component is have confidence and be conscious of-how. i'm in an prolonged distance relationship (not my 1st). It has its united statesand downs. we are although mutually. it particularly is been greater effective than a 300 and sixty 5 days and although going good. we are making plans to get married.
