What should I name my white calico fantail goldfish?
I have no idea if it's a male or female, just looking for a name. It's mostly white with a little orange and black. About 5".

The pet store can't tell you its gender and packing it up in a bag and hauling it around unnecessary is not fun for the goldfish, let alone healthy. Water conditions and temperature must be right and then you'd be able to tell yourself. After cool weather/ hibernation in the wild, male goldies will get white "pimples" on their cheeks. Very obvious if you know what to look for, though usually they aren't there.
I named one of mine after my best friend that moved away, so I call her "Shelby-fish". Every once in awhile I send a phone picture to my friend and we laugh about it. Also I have one named Captain Nemo after a character in a book- I thought the water theme was appropriate, also King Triton- sea king in The Little Mermaid, and Poseidon- Greek god of the sea. And Atocha- a famous sunken Spanish treasure ship. My newest addition is a little blue and black calico named Sushi :D
