Should the Chair Umpire ask for a Public apology from Serena Williams?
I think that she should. Serena degraded her publicly on world wide Television when the Umpire was only doing her job and doing it right. I'm surprised that Mary Carillo didn't ask Serena if she was going to apologize or if she already had. I would have loved to see her response. Se never admits being in the wrong after the fact and after she blows up at people. I wonder if she ever apologized to the lil asian linesperson at last years US. I don't remember her doing that.

No, it's best to let it go. If she did apologize it would be as insincere as her last apology. She's always been like this and as long as punks like McEnroe are commentators they'll continue to make excuses for her. Not surprising considering McEnroe was the biggest piece of crap on the court when he played. Mary Carillo is the only one who really called her out, sadly she's really the only one who ever does (her and Navratilova). Congrats to Eva Asderaki for keeping her cool and showing Serena what it's like to be composed

I think the umpire should just let it go. It'll be more effective if she's not the one pressing for an apology. People don't tune it to tennis to watch the umpires. The tennis players are the stars of the show. It's useful that the tv commentators said the umpire made the correct decision. Most people will side with the umpire on this and be critical of Serena's petulant display of poor sportsmanship. If Serena sees a downside to her popularity from it then she may choose to apologize, though it would be out of character.

The Chair Umpire is in a tough position, because she has no power to ask for a public apology. Because of this blow up by Serena calling the Umpire "a hater and saying she is a loser and ugly," just shows to the world what type of classless low piece of trash that Serena really is. Serena calling anyone those things is like the pot talking to kettle.

Anything that Mary Carillo can find to say against Serena Williams you can rest assured she will do it. But the answer to the question is no. Serena didn't do anything unusual on the tennis court to the umpire that warrants an official apology and IF someone all of a sudden decided that she should apologize, then they need to ask Roddick, Hewitt, Conners, McEnroe and about a dozen other male players to apologize for the a career of doing the same thing. But they won't so why should Serena apologize for anything? Just because CBS chooses to replay over and over again a routine "controversy" that happens to involved someone called Williams doesn't make it a significant issue worthy of apology.
Oh and while you may not remember her apologizing to the chair umpire two years ago, SHE DID. YEARS AGO. The reason you don't ever remember hearing about it is because you only hear and see what you've pre-decided to hear based on your prejudice and because apologies don't create ratings on CBS,controversyy does! They don't want you to remember apologies, they want you to remember the incident that tarnishes someones career. But here ya go!

She won't, but even if she does, the ITF will probably tell her to shut up. Who is gonna wanna go up against the almighty Serena? No one is gonna care about the poor woman.
Serena Williams, a great champion, a classless human.

No. I think it would be best if she just moved on. Serena could be as wrong as is possible, but asking for a "my bad" would only make this whole thing go on and on and get worse.

Nope. I think people should shut up and let it be because Serena isn't going to change. A public apology would only be for show. Just let it die.
