Photo gallery for my website?

I'm making a website to show off work that I have done (I'm an art/design student), but I need a way to display multiple pictures in an album on the page, without it looking too tacky. Before I have just had a load of large images in a list, but I want to make something that looks more professional.

So could you help me find gallery that lets me use images of varying sizes either:

-In pure css (I don't know anything about jQuery, but I am willing to learn a bit if I really need to)

-Or an online widget maker where I can make a FREE gallery, that will make the gallery for me and give me the code.
