Beta Fish???? Help please?
Hello,
I recently purchased a male Beta fish and just wanted to know a few things about the care and maintenance of them.
-How often, and much, do I feed them?
-How often do I clean out their tank?
-Is there anything else I should know about caring for a Beta fish?
Thank you in advance!!!

-You should feed them about twice daily, and as much as they can consume in three minutes. Just be careful and don't overfeed them.
- If you have a filter, then maybe once a week or so do a 25% water change.
- They shouldn't be kept in those small bowls. You know the ones they sell at pet stores that say specifically for betta fish? Yeah, those are bad because bettas love to swim and explore. You may think that they just sit at the bottom of the tank, but once in a bigger tank they become quite active. (mine is very entertaining) The minimum should be around 5 gallons.
Their temperature should be at around 75-82 degrees as they are tropical fish. If your house isn't that warm then you should consider investing in a heater.
They also like plants and little caves to hide in. Stay away from plastic plants as they have the potential to harm your betta's fin. Silk or live plants are the best
Good luck in caring for your betta! :)

Give them a pinch of good quality fish flakes for tropical/saltwater fish x2 a day, one in the morning one in the noon is prefered.
Cleaning it out once a week is good-put the fish in a saucepan and fill the tank one quarter up with water-clean everything out and make sure everything is running well.
You need a heater-make sure you have one.
They can live a long time and they have stunning bodies.
They are very elegant and can live well on themselves-don't add anything to the tank (e.g. ghost shrimp) as it may eat the shrimp. Good luck

I feed my bettas every other day, I heard they can go every three days, but I have been feeding them every other day and don't want to risk anything and am happy the way they are.
Clean it out whenever it looks cloudy or dirty, I do mine once a week because I have the messiest fish food ever!
Yes, they live pretty long and the males are the lighter- colored ones.

You should feed him about a pinch of fish food. You need to clean the tank about twice a week. Everyone says they need heaters, filters, and oxygen gear, but they dont. My friend has one in a bowl, NO HEATER OR FILTER!
