How do I care about other people?

I've noticed that I've been a very selfish person and I want to try to change that. Any ideas on how I could start caring about other people? Any help would be great! Thanks! =)

    Hi,

A way to start is by dropping down totally the needs of yourself and thinking about the needs and wants of the other person. A story my sister told us yesterday, it goes like this:

A man was with Jesus and as he was with him Jesus took him to hell, in hell there was this huge bowl and long spoons in the huge bowl. The people standing there trying to eat looked malnourished as if they have been starving for days. The spoons were so large they could not feed themselves. The man was so bewildered that he said to Jesus "take me to heaven" So Jesus took him to heaven and when he reached he saw the same huge bowl and in it were the same long spoons. But he looked at the people and they all looked healthy and as if they had eaten plenty. The man had been surprised and looked at Jesus to ask him what was the difference from the people in hell? And Jesus said "They all learned how to feed each other" :) As you go through life, feed your neighbor, a friend, or even a person with a smile, a word, or just a simple thought. Show people you value their needs over your own and then see how much in the end you will be blessed. Give and you will receive more than as you have asked. For greater love hath no man that when he gave up his life for his friends. Be a true friend! The one that people can lean on when things get tough and when there is no where to go.. God bless you :)

One thing you could do is volunteer for a WORTHY cause, like help the elderly, or work at a soup kitchen, or if you aren't scared be like me and visit people in jail. Other things you can do is just sit down and listen to the other person, ask them how their day was.
