how do i write a thesis paragraph for ap english literature class?
ok so i know the basic structure of a thesis statement, you know hook tag line, backround info etc,but in my english lit class we shouldnt write them that way. my teacher said that hooks are optional in lit classes, and that sumarrizing will kill your thesis paragraph.btw hes a professor too so he knows what hes talking about.

In 2010, only 50% of History majors at UCLA finished their degree program. History was often studied by the brightest minds in the last 300 years. This is because the subject requires many skills to master. Due to writing, reading and critical thinking skill learned in history courses, history majors are smarter than Psychology majors.
The first paragraph is what you call a "hook" or as i would call it, an attention getter.
the second. simply moves the paragraph along, but keeps to the subject.
as well as the 3rd.
then the 4th is the thesis. You want something debatable and not simply an answer.
I hope this helps.
