Why does my base unit switch itself off all the time?

Just switches itself off randomly,the screen also shuts off.

However if you press the button at the front,to switch it on,it doesnt work.

You have to flick the switch at the the back of unit to "off" for 10 seconds,then switch it back on.

Only then can you press the button at the front to fire up again.

Help!
