Buying eclipse 150k? Auto?

I'm thinking about buying a 2003 Mitsubishi eclipse with 150k for abt 3700. It has the 6 cylinder motor auto transmission and I'm assuming it's been well taken care of. My goal is to put about 15000 miles on it by driving back and forth between Cali and az. How reliable is this car at this millage? How is the mpg? Any info is appreciated also would get a Honda but they (no offense to drivers) they have no style

The first eclipse i had i put 120,000 miles on it after i bought it. It had a total of 230,000 miles before it was totaled in an accident :/

"Consumer reports put it on their list of top 15 worst used cars to buy."

--- the main reason for this is because these cars tend to be abused and neglected. But if theyre taken care of their amazing cars.

"The motor is weak and tends to blow head gaskets."

--- The engine isnt weak, its not built to be able to handle turbo/supercharger very well but if your not adding a turbo or a super charger and change your oil when you suppose to the engine will last for a VERY long time.

"The transmission isn't built to handle tons of mileage"

--- My last Eclipse had 230,000 miles on it and the transmision was never rebuilt or replaced so im gonna have to disagree on that one.

"the the electrical system is a nightmare."

-- The ONLY electrical problems ive had with the Eclipses is the headlight wiring harness likes to melt because the stock wires are a very low gauge. I fixed that problem my self for 12 dollars. And the EGR Solanoids tend to fail after about 120,000 miles or so. I took my car to the shop for that issue and to have my EGR solanoid replaced, and the EGR valve cleaned on top of that was230 dollars TOTAL. thats labor, shop fees, and everything.

    "Good mpg though."

---Id agree with that, Especially in the 4 cylinder versions (GS/RS that was my first eclipse). The 6 cylinders do have good gas milage for a 6 cylinder though (i own a 6 cylinder eclipse at the moment with 174,000 miles on it)

    ---------------------------------------

I really like these cars. If they werent abused and neglected by the previous owners then they are very reliable but that being said alot of these cars got abused because they are considered cheap sports cars.

    Over all id recommend it.

Terrible car. Consumer reports put it on their list of top 15 worst used cars to buy. The motor is weak and tends to blow head gaskets. The transmission isn't built to handle tons of mileage, the the electrical system is a nightmare. Good mpg though. I'd stay far away from that car.

something that's over-priced because of the fact of attractiveness... I refuse to purchase shoes for over 40$, headphones for over 50$...etc...i'm not determining to purchase two hundred$ shoes and 6 hundred$ headphones just to seem "cool"
