Any suggestions for my knees?

I have always ran but just until recently, my knees have really been bothering me. I have always had runners knee where my knees feel like they are going to pop out everytime I run, but just recently, my knees ache constantly. I have been working at my job for a little over a year now and I was just thinking that maybe it is because I sit at a desk all day and my knees are not getting enough activity. Could this be why my knees ache? It literally feels like I just aged 20 years. For my runners knee, I do rest, ice, compress and elevate my knee after I run. I also bought new shoes with more stability. Any suggestions for my runners knee and do you think that because I sit at my desk all day, this could be impacting my knees? Any suggestions on how to help my knees as well since I will probably always have a desk job? Thanks!!

Try to replace running with fast-paced walking instead. Swing your arms to give yourself a cardio workout. This period of walking will allow your knees to rest and still allow you to maintain and build your leg muscles. If you feel an improvement, try a light jog to get back into the swing of things. Just don't overdo it again. Make sure to get enough sleep to rest and recover as well. Good luck.

you,re doing the right thing for knee health. the next stop in the process is to see an orthopedic surgeon for a consult. ibuprofen will reduce swelling/pain. exercise works to alleviate knee pain, unless they,re damaged more than you know. i have a total knee replacement for my left knee. i have a damaged right lateral meniscus. i use the leg machines at the gym regularly. i did this before, between, and after two knee surgeries. i suspect something is permanently damaged in your knees. an MRI may be needed. x rays don,t show soft tissue damage. see that ortho doc. they do have the answers.

No the sitting won't affect chondromalace patellae or a partial ACL tear, but it does take away exercise and toning, mobility too. Do flexion & strengthening exercises as seen on youtube.
