Is there a free desktop pop up reminder program that would automatically remind me of tasks?

Is there a free desktop pop up reminder program that would automatically remind me of tasks? I'm looking for something that I don't have to open everyday to check. Something that syncs with the PCs time

    VueMinder Calendar Lite (http://www.vueminder.com)/ can provide reminders. It runs in the background and starts with Windows. If you have any reminders scheduled, they'll pop up without you needing to do anything.

    There are many reminder settings, including a text-to-speech reminder, which I find useful if I'm in another room. I'll hear the reminder through the speakers hooked up to my PC. It's pretty slick, and you can't beat the price (free).

    Use "Calendar" in Microsoft Outlook

    If you use the Outlook calendar, there is a Gadget that you can download that should do what you want.
