So, the U.S. debts and deficits have to be paid back, but the poor have to take care of themselves?

This is something I've really had a hard time getting.

From late '07 to early '09 the giant banks and investment houses crashed the economy worse than it crashed in '29, then they got bailed out with our tax dollars.

In many cases the same individuals who made 40% of the global economy disappear, rather than being fired and imprisoned, are still raking in record profits, incomes and bonuses every quarter, and these are the guys that We the People so desperately need to pay back?

For...?

...ripping us all off and getting away with it?

For getting rewarded for it and being in perfect position to crash the economy again?

Meanwhile 1 in 6 people in the U.S., roughly 1 in 4 children under 5, are living under our brutally low national poverty line and apparently so stupid, or lazy, or spoiled, or unlucky, or weak, etc, that they might as well just go ahead and die?

Does anyone else see something very wrong with that?

Does it really make sense to enjoy sending your tax dollars to people who have billions already and keep it from those who have nothing?

Do you really believe that giving more money to the "job creators" will make life better for everyone? ...maybe better just for the people you like? ...maybe just better for you?

the basic idea is that a lot of the modern economy flows through banks, if a number of big banks went under, it would be like destroying a bridge, messes up the flow of traffic everywhere else. that's not to say we shouldn't have put stipulations on the bailouts, like executive pay limits and such. plus the success of a business nowadays is not measured in their ability to generate a profit but their ability to consistently expand their profit.

Your premise is faulty and your statistics are weak.

The poor now days are not the lazy but college educated people, the senior citizens etc....

the banks had to be bailed out because the government made them give loans out to people that they knew never could pay for the homes they bought. they could not even keep up with the interest let alone ever pay those houses off.

Jobs would help the people enormously, poor and rich alike. Give jobs so all can pay taxes, not just the rich!

the reason that the banks had to be bailed out , is because the one bank the government did not want to go under , is the bank with all their pensions in it. they could not just help that one bank ( how would that look) so they had to help ALL the banks! Now no one can get a loan, In order to get money now days you have to have money!

while you're point about bakns is not far off, the 'facts' of the poor are a bit off the mark, starting with teh fact that obama decided to arbitrarily raise hte level of 'poor'....

also, suggesting that kids go hungry, while sad, is inaccurate until you consider that 66% are some form o overweight, which means they'r hungry because they're fat, not starving....

the simple math here doesnt work... 2 out of 3 are fat, yet some how 1 out of 6 is starving...?!

as soonm as kids and welfare recipients realise that buying a cell phone isn't nec and food and shelter are necessary, you'll have an aruemnt. however, when they continue to have kids they cant' afford and ask the govt to support their 8 kids w/ no father, the problem isnt' the banks, i'ts lack of education about where babies originate...

( this from a woman in colorado who receives 2mil a year for her 8 kids w/ no father)

in every question like this there is always "the Poor poor people" and most people lean towards them. i know my answer will be hated but i do not feel like typing my whole response because there are a lot of issues i would want to point out to justify my answer.

but in general no one made them poor, yea the government is messed up for it but that doesn't go against the fact that every American has the same opportunity to make the best of themselves. mainly by getting a stable JOB, and stop having kids.
