From Navy to Marine ( after service obligations )?

im currently enlisted into the Navy for 5 years as a quarter master i really want to be on the field with the marines but my rating doesnt allow me and HM rating is overmanned so i cant switch ratings till god knows when.

i was rejected from the marines because of a tattoo that i have on my wrist. if i get the tattoo lasered off can i join the Marines. ( after my obligation to the navy )

in joining the marines from the navy how deranked would i get? give an example

- like if im petty officer 2nd class ( E5 ) what would i be in the marines.

and im sure that i still have to go to boot camp for the marines.

just give all information that you can

* please nobody be assholes about the question or your answers * just looking for some info/advice .

Update:

It's always more difficult for prior service to join other branches, but it is possibly.

If you have the tattoo removed, I doubt it would be an issue.

Yeah you would have to go through Marine bootcamp, and start your way from the button. You would lose your rank, only enlisting as an E-2.

Your ribbons, it depends if there is an equivalent in the Marine Corps, but being ribbons from the Navy, most likely.

But if you were already rejected from the Marines because of your tattoo..what makes you think you're going to get a different deal? Each service has different standards and that's probably why the Navy let you in.

But since you're so gung-ho...why not SWCC/SEALS/EOD?? Just a thought...
