If its a masculine name then: Poe would be great considering that he wrote horror and the whole dark theme thing. If you want something mythological then Hugin or Munin which are the ravens on the shoulders of Odin that he would send out to gather information on the world, they represent thought and memory. If you want a feminine then Morigan can be a good bet as she was the deity that lay on the shoulder of the Celtic hero Cú Chulainn after he died.
