"Travellers" eviction?

I DON'T understand. If these people term themselves "Travellers" why do they want to stay permanently on Dale Farm, Basildon? They say its their culture, so surely they should "travel"

Lol these parasites are rich and have homes in Limerick, some of them own 3 or 4 houses, only the stupid leftie anarchists are taken in by them!

A lot of them are rich through keeping people as Slaves and making them work for nothing and apparently this did go on at Dale farm as much as anywhere else.

And they have the damn cheek to shout about their human rights!

Being mostly Irish they understand the meaning of English hospitality, so they want to stay.

God knows why. I would have thought that the Irish have had enough of English hospitality.

    "No"

I know why they want to stay, It's a peaceful occupation.

We occupied there country, taking away their rights, killing them and staving then to death, now they have come back to occupy England.

Starting at Basildon. Basildon is a dump anyway, so give it to them, it can only be an improvement.

Nice to read that some here are not extreme right-wing Traveller haters

Thanks Jack H it is sad how many have not a clue about whats going on and believe the bile coming from the right wing press. A few facts for the ignorant they own the site its simply a issue of planning permission if they where super rich and made a extension without getting council permission believe me there would not be evicted but because there travellers the council hold a vendetta to please the Daily Mail readers and the toffs and racists in the local community. It will cost the taxpayer to evict them and also to house those with kids and the elderly quite pathetic it would be cheaper to give them the permission to stay and make a new arrangement .

I absolutely agree with this question. These people are NOT gypsies/travellers. They are just a certain group of people who think they are onto a nice thing, being 'permanent' without paying all the taxes (eg Council Tax) we idiots have to pay, for permanency!! It makes me sick.

I do agree that they should have access to a permanent site however, but once 'permanent' then they should be required to pay that the rest of us have to pay!!! I'd prefer this to having these people turn up at the bottom of anybody's garden to spread their filth around. And believe me, they make loads of mess which if they move on, they just leave behind.

ps We, down here in Cornwall, DO NOT want these people (or any more of 'em) down there 'ere parts.

    Quite.

They've lost the legal cases but somehow believe they have 'rights' to behave as they wish on the grounds of spurious 'Travellers' community' traditions. Their 'culture' is one of non-conformity, non-payment of taxes, non-compliance with regulations the rest of us abide by - TAKING whatever they can and contributing zilch to society.

The coalition is under fire for simplifying/speeding up Planning regulations in case it opens the way for development against the local community's wishes and by the same token these law-breakers mustn't be allowed blatantly avoid them altogether.

Don't want them in Cornwall. They parked in a car park at East Looe a few years ago, bank holiday w/e as usual. They were moved on, on the tuesday and ended up in a field in Plymouth.

You keep them. Cornwall is closed.

Gypsy/Romany/Travelers - whatever - is an ethnic term -that's the background they came from. Just as Violet on ITV This Morning said today - if you're Asian /Chinese etc, just because you live here , you don't stop being Asian/Chinese etc----the same goes for the Dale Farm residents.

They bought a Scrap Yard 10 years ago and developed it accordingly. The thing is , they didn't have permission to build houses on the land - they built 1 - the rest of the homes have wheels..

A few years ago, it became an offense to 'travel' so lots of them set up roots in different places - by law.

Of course they pay council tax and buy gas bottles and if not connected to a main, they have generators for electricity. Their children all go to local schools. They are almost always very strong Catholics

    Let them stay

this is the thing where do they go, its now practically made impossible for gypsies to keep to their travelling culture.

we have a gypsy camp near us they keep to themselves and i have never heard of them causing trouble.

i really think gypsies/travellers or whatever you want to call them get a really raw deal.

They are hypocrites. They are just people who want land for free and don't want to have to pay rates, yet the council are legally obliged to provide water, sewerage facilities etc etc.

They are nothing but sc.m who deserve to be turfed out. They can go live in a forest in Cornwall for all I care.
