Why is Clegg still lying at the Libdem conference?
Clegg told the conference today that they couldn't get out of the Thameslink deal with Seimens, but lawyers have already said they can. So he's either lying or he's in denial.
Time for Heroes, the fact that Seimens has been involved in illegal dealings with other countries is enough of a reason for them to withdraw the contract and this wouldn't damage our reputation abroad. At present, with this contract, we are seen as a laughing stock by many countries.

Lying. People do anything to get in power. That also includes telling the public what they want to hear in order to gain a few votes.
Anyone with common sense wouldn't vote Lib Dem. Clegg has proved everything everyone was skeptical about.

Simply because this is how all our habitual lying MPs buy votes and support. He is no different than Cameron or Miliband except that he has told so many lies he has to tell even more to cover up the lot before these. Habitual liars do this all the time. Just that he is proving to be not as apt at it as the others. Same is true of all the Lib Dems. Give him a couple of more years fiddling expenses, holding his hand out for the backhanders etc and he will be just as good as Cameron, Miliband and the rest of our MPs. Take Huhne for example. He has become very good at it in a very short while. Same with Alexander. I expect the Tories will accept them as full members shortly as they both appear to have finished their apprenticeships with the Tories with flying colours.

Well maybe he could legally get out of it but it wouldn't be a good idea now they've committed to it.
It's fine in my book to practise subtle protectionism when awarding government contracts and favour the contracts which benefit the UK economy and/or UK workers but I think it sends a big message if they were to choose a foreign provider then tear up the contract in favour of a domestic supplier. It might well damage UK business interests abroad if other countries see the UK practising blatant protectionism.
They should have awarded the contract to the British firm in the first place.

He does come across as being rather deceitful. Also he appears rather wimpish and lacking backbone !
