Road bike suggestions please?

i will be riding around 100 miles per week on paved roads and paths. i dont want to spend over $400.

- male, 6 ft tall, 32" inseam.

- has to be geared. 10/21 i dont care

everything i have seen at sporting goods stores and walmart/target are too small and crappy quality. and everything i see at local bike shops is extremely expensive and high tech.. all i want is a decent quality bike, not something that costs as much as my car. im riding the local paths not the tour de france.

help me out please?

Update:

technically i wear 33" inseam jeans, but i like them slightly baggy. not quite long enough to touch the ground behind my heel if im wearing shoes.

also, im looking for a simple 10 or 21 speed road bike, hybrid will suffice as long as it doesnt have suspension.

Those will not break your bank. Several to chooose from. Compare prices and components.

Personally, I would go for hte Motobecane.

You don;t say what kind of bike that you are interested in,,, a hybrid or drop bar 'racer; would both be great choices. Bicycle Magazine just came out with a recommended bidget hybrid list to include these three bikes.: Raleigh Detour 3.5. Giant Cypress ST, and James Citizen. All. Are in the mid $300 range.

Go to a bike shop and ask them what is best for your needs. A 32 inch inseam is kind of short for some one 6 ft tall.

    Edit:

Try something like this. You want a 21 inch frame.

If you are riding 100 miles per week you'll destroy a $400 dollar bike in about three months.

You'll find a $400 or less road bike on Ebay.com ( category-Sporting Goods-Outdoor Sports/CYCLING-full road bikes). Select a reputable brand ( Trek,Cannondale,Marin,GT,etc) with all Shimano/SRAM gears. best if the bike is new or mint condition!

  • A decent bike will cost $309 Trek cruiser http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/town/cruiser/...

A bike for $450 and higher will get you where you want to be for a much longer time.

    Best.
