How do I properly fireproof and heatproof my kitchen kabinet?

My stove is too close to the kitchen kabinet. If I put a pan on the gas, the flames will just about touch the wood of the kitchen kabinet. Now, I do have some room to play with, but I would like to put something on the kitchen kabinet that can handle the heat, the possible occasional flame, and also kitchen spoils, so I need to be able to clean it.

What do i use to heatproof the side of this kabinet?

I just looked at my cook stove and the cabinet is near it and slightly below it. - I turned on the heat on the closest burner and put a pan on the burner. -- then I felt the area near the kitchen cabinet and it was only slightly warm - no place close to burning.

I suppose you have a different type of stove than mine.

Well, if it bothers you or scares you, then I know how to solve that problem. Use 5 inch wide metal flashing to protect the cabinet.

Simply screw a length of the flashing to the edge of the cabinet next to the stove.

It will divert the heat and it will also work as a splatter guard when you are cooking things in the pan.

at your local hardware store, about 36 inches of 5 inch metal flashing would cost less than $10.

If you are neat screwing it to your cabinet, it will look good too, because the metal flashing is nice and shiny and easy to clean.
