What are the pluses and minuses of HD Radio?

I'm considering getting an HD radio. What are the ++ and the -- for HD.

How is their reception?

Are they static free?

I've heard that they don't have the decibel levels that current radios have. True?

Are they subject to interference from other radio sources, such as power equipment?

If you have one, are you happy with it?

Do they come in clock radio options.

Thanks.

differences between AM and FM. AM is a waste. FM has both pluses and minuses.

    "How is their reception?"

THe main and sub channels don't go as far and do not penetrate buildings as ell.

    "Are they static free?"

No more so than conventional FM and static may cause them to revert to conventional FM at times.

"I've heard that they don't have the decibel levels that current radios have. True?"

Depends on the stations settings. It can be worse or better.

"Are they subject to interference from other radio sources, such as power equipment?"

Yes, more so than conventional radio, but they will revert to conventional first before dropping out completely

"If you have one, are you happy with it?"

I have 3, but rarely use them for HD specifically. The HD2 and HD3 channels are sometimes the only reason, and they don't come in as well as the main.

"Do they come in clock radio options."

If you want to spend the money, you can probably find ones that do. They are getting harder to find however, rather than more common.
