installing an air intake system into a 1988 Chevy S-10 2.8L Automatic transmission?

I've been thinking of adding an air intake system into my truck, was wondering if it would cause any problems? Want to add an additional 5-10 hp. Also if I were to add this air intake system, would I have to change out the exhaust on my truck? thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Update:

it's a V6 engine

The only issue is if you get a cheap intake system the mass air flow system may act up causing a check engine light to come on.. no you dont have to change the exhaust

go ahead. a 2.8 doesnt have a mass air sensor it has a map sensor. so your can do what you want but your really not going to gain much. i mean. its a 2.8.
