Help me pick out my first guitar?
So i want to learn guitar, and i just got back from the music store, at first i did a bunch of research online, and found a guitar in my price range (yamaha fg700s), but when i talked to the guy at the shop, he recommended the guitars that come in a pack (gig bag, picks, dvd etc) so now i'm a little lost.
The 3 main packs i really looked at were
Takamine D50N
Squier (Fender) SA100
and Yamaha F310P
not sure which one to choose, any help would be great.
@Alice umm can you elaborate on the "no first act crap"??
@cemetary i was actually leaning towards the takamine.......my instincts suck :'(
NOTE!!! there was also an Epiphone DR90 as well

No!!! You were making the right decision before with the solid top Yamaha. If by music store you mean Guitar Center or some big retailer like that, never listen to those guys. They are salesmen, not musicians. And by the way, although this will surely get me some thumbs down, you are getting some very uninformed advice here. Trust me, get the Yamaha.

I'm doing the same thing right now. The best thin to do is to get one of those 100 dollor starter kits. NO FIRST ACT CRAP!! Epiphone is great. Then as you get better, get an accoustic/Electric guitar so you have the quality if ab acoustic and you can plug it into an amp later. But wait 2 years befor upgrading. So go with the starter kit, the upgrade "upgrade guitar only!!" then get better and better.

first act crap is the junk you basically find at a walmart store or a really cheap guitar. yamahas are a decent beginner guitar but takamines sound qaulity is amazing..personally id go with the takamine

Get a cheap epiphone or squire, the cheapest they have and a decent amp. Do not spend a ton of money on a guitar only to be left with pennies for the amp. Remember, a cheap guitar can sound great on a great amp, no guitar can sound good on a crappy amp. The amp should definitely be your main investment.

I bought the Squier and it's still works fine after 7 months of daily use. And it's only 100 dollars or so. Although, I will get a Martin when I get the money of course.

Well, sometimes you need to go with instinct.
Definitely get the squier if you can't decide. Fender everything's the best.

I'd suggest getting a cheap guitar your comfortable with playing just to learn on, then upgrade later on.

you should probably get the squire. epophones in my experience go out of tune very easily. squiers don't so much.
