Elk Grove is very very safe and just 15 minutes from downtown

South Sacramento is known for its high crime rate. On the local news, when a crime happens in the Sacramento area, its often from the south side.
But Sacramento has very nice areas too... downtown is nice, much of the eastern and northern areas are fine, like Loomis, Rocklin, Roseville and Folsom.
Rancho Cordova and North Highlands have notable crime too.
