Why does unplugging, removing the battery, and holding down the power button fix the black screen on laptops?

I mean when the screen goes black and you can't do anything, why does this work?

    there is a certian amount of space / memory allocated to the BIOS / Cmos and or Graphics card that the user and or system / drives store basic settings like output type or IRQ assignment / VG / DVI and such.

    While the BIOS chip still loads its core settings the other portian used be the system and drives is reset....................
