Points have no monetary value and there are no prizes, no cigars no nada, it's really just the satisfaction of helping others, no strings attached., or possibly bragging rights (big deal). There are seven levels, more points give you more participation rights so it can also be an ego thing and keep us interested..

To move up answer lots of questions, the maximum you can do every day trying for best answer which gives you ten points, and avoid asking questions that costs you five points. When you ask a question be sure to return and pick a best answer to get 3 points back. Be sure to vote for undecided questions, you get a point for that. An easy way to check the complete setup and privileges: Click "about" above the green bar above scroll down click "points and levels" or click the link below and you will see the complete setup.

  • You don't get anything with the points. There are a means to encourage people to help people out by answering their questions. You basically move up levels as you gain points. To see how the point system works, Hover you mouse over the "ABOUT" tab above, and select "Points & Levels". Everything you'd want to know about how the points system works is there, including how you can gain and lose points.

The points don't count towards anything useful, just your reputation. The points sorta just represent how many people you've potentially helped :)
