Songs are sad nowadays?

Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" has got me a little down.

I'm not trashing her, or her fans. But I'm just kind of sad about how songs nowadays are so trashy.

Her lyrics are a great example, it's like a big mashup of everything indecent. Getting drunk, skinny dipping, threesomes, hickeys, breaking the law... etc.

I'm not saying I never listen to songs that talk about indecent things, I'm not trying to act all self righteous here. But I don't like this song. It's too annoying to listen too.

Is there anyone who feels the same way? I kind of miss having original singers/songwriters/bands.

Sometimes, but choose the songs that make you feel happy and enjoy.

You can't blame the singers, they just sing the song. They don't write it. Well most of them don't anyway. It's all about the market: you see music producers will see that sad songs are always a hit with the people, so it's a logical thing that they should write more. Bear in mind that recording songs cost millions.

It's not their fault, it just means that people, generally, in this generation are just getting depressed. Probably because of the economic situation, unemployment etc.

    Nevertheless, be happy.

    Ciao.

Mainstream music is plain awful. The concept of mainstream itself is awful. It's all just a method of making money, so they target teens whose hormones are through the roof. It's a surefire way to make some quick money.

The ironic thing is that Katy Perry is apparently Christian...that kind of verifies what I just said even more!

Another thing is that when songs get too deep, people turn away because they don't want to hear the negative things they convey. a.k.a. THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!

True. Songs today are so crappy and stupid. And i'm just a very young teen under 15 saying this..

What happened to REAL music? Beach Boys, Beatles, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, fvck the 21st century!

Yeah, songs are weird these days. Damn these horny party crazed singers!

All i hear nowadays in songs:

    Booty

    Party

    Sex

That's why i like to listen to foreign songs. Because i can listen to a good song, and i have no idea what the hell they are on about.

For me, the proper unhappy music is ' Season's in the sunlight' by technique of Terry Jacks, and coated by technique of between the boy bands like Take That or Boyzone. that's some guy who knows he could desire to no longer see his significant different and youngsters lower back, and saying his very final goodbyes. 'coronary heart breaker' by technique of Dionne Warwick, 'Ben' by technique of Michael Jackson, 'The Winner Takes all of it' by technique of Abba and 'the 1st shrink Is The inner maximum' are additionally good. Sorry i can not remember the artist for the final music. Mike t.

I would listen to anything, so the lyrics are not really a big thing for me. But it is a bonus if it expresses my feelings.
