Will a flu shot help to keep me from getting the "24hr stomach flu"?

    No. The "stomach flu" is actually not flu at all. That's a gastro virus, or what's commonly called a stomach bug.

    The flu shot is to prevent actual influenza (aka the flu), which is a respiratory virus.

    There are many viruses and bacteria that can cause the stomach flu.

    The annual flu shot is is for the latest flu that principally effects the lungs with a lesser effect to the stomach. That flu evolves every year so we need a new shot each year.
