About to buy a new iPod Touch. Compatibility questions.?
Hey everyone, I recently lost my iPod Nano(4th gen), and am thinking of upgrading to an iPod Touch. My mind's almost made up, but I have 2 questions:
1) I bought a cable that goes into my car's cigarette lighter and connects to my iPod Nano. It connects through the USB port. Will it connect to the iPod Touch? In other words, do the iPod Nano 4th gen and the newest iPod Touch have the same USB port?
2) A friend told me that his car could play his iPod Nano just fine, but when he switched to the iPod Touch, it was incompatible with the car. Now, this happened years ago, so his Nano was probably the 2nd generation, and his new iPod Touch was probably 1st or 2nd generation. My car itself is old, but the radio is only 4 or 5 years old. Is it a common occurance for nano-compatible accessories to not work on touches? Or am I going to have to buy yet another cable for my car?

The cables for all iPods are the same and will charge or sync any iPod.
The car kits are not the same, while the cable is the same and may allow the iPod to play over the car stereo, it may not allow the car's controls to operate the iPod. I had this problem with my Toyota. The stereo works if I use an old Nano, but not my 5th Gen or iPod touch. I keep my son's old Nano in my car and use the newer nano when I'm not driving.
I ended up buying an FM transmitter for use with the iPods in the cars as it charges while you use it.

i assume the subsequent iPod touch will launch around October to November. in case you are able to not wait, choose for the 4th gen. i will think of of a great type of stuff the iPhone 5 would have, yet i don't see any advancements interior the 5th gen iPod touch aside from velocity and doubtless Siri.
