Losing internet access but keeps connection to router why?

If i got into my brothers room I stay connected to the router but it says no internet access, but if i walk to hallway it connects. Other laptops work in there, and his xbox 360 works in there. So how can I stay connected to router but lose internet and yet nothing esle does? Thank you.

try pinging something, if it says you don't have access then it's probably your laptop, the other laptops might have better NICs and may be able to pick up a better signal, depending on what your house is made of the walls might be blocking the signal, pretty common occurrence. Hope that helps, best answer please!
