Mt. Everest: is climbing a mortuary fun?
Over 200 people have died trying to climb it. Many of the dead are still lying about. And the exaltation and exhilaration of going there, seeing the corpses and climbing it would be....?
Google many photos showing Everest corpses currently lying in the snow, "Green Shoes" (nickname), for instance. See also National Geographic feature showing George Mallory's body (the real thing!) not too far from the crest.
Ok--people die. High altitude mortuary science with real bodies, which one seldom sees on the highway, by the way, is fun? Maybe it's mostly morticians and medical examiners who enjoy climbing the 8,000 meter peaks.

So if someone dies somewhere you don't want to go there anymore? Ever been to a hospital? Ever driven on a highway? Your logic makes no sense. People don't climb it to see a few dead bodies, but they are there. So what?
Edit: I still don't see your point... So there are dead bodies there that cannot be retrieved, a few of which may be seen by other climbers. This doesn't mean that the climbers are going there for some morbid fascination with seeing dead bodies. It just means that they want to climb Everest (or any other peak for that matter) for whatever personal reasons they may have...and yes, they may see a dead body on the way, but that is irrelevant.
Your logic is similar to saying: "People that drive cars on the highway must have a morbid fascination with dead ground hogs and other roadkill, because there is roadkill all over the highway." Doesn't make a damn bit of sense, does it?

I love walking in the mountains, but having been lost up a mountain (nothing close to the height of Everest) and the fear that goes with it, I can see your point. Your question made me laugh actually. I now make absolutely sure that the risk of bad weather is as low as it gets. That way I can happily say I've walked up many, many peaks, enjoyed the exercise and the view and not had to be rescued.
I have watched many climbing programmes because it's a passion of mine, and I look at the misery of really high altitude climbing (huddled up in tents, noses and toes falling off etc) and I do ask why!
But then, compared with these people, I'm a coward!
Edit: The most shocking thing is that if someone gets into real difficulty up there, other climbers cannot help because of the altitude. In short, a troubled climber is left to die. That's not my idea of adventure. Or attainment.

Its not like the corpses are laying around visible. Those who have died were removed, unless their bodies could not be found/recovered.
