I believe you're referring to the guy who played with busted ribs, a thumb torn up so badly that it will never heal, shoulder and biceps injuries that would've sidelined anyone else. His remark many of those times was, "I've got your backs!"

    Selfish? Not a little bit.

He isn't, not by a million miles. There's an entire clique of angry people who dislike Favre. They jump on everything he says, dig around for the slightest negative inference, and magnify it a zillion times. In this case, there is no genuine negative implication, so hacks manufactured some.

I read and heard the entire interaction, and what he actually said about being "surprised" they hadn't won a championship earlier is, frankly, very high praise indeed. He assured those who would listen that Green Bay would win the last Super Bowl, quite some time before the bandwagon was fully organized.

Selfish? No. Nothing he said was an insult to anyone. Nor did it in any way inflate his reputation as a quarterback.

When he made the statement in 2007 about that team being the "most talented" he'd seen, he was attacked then, too, merely for complimenting his receiver corps. Some of the hack writers implied he was nuts.

They were wrong then, and they're wrong now.

Green Bay has had solid quarterback play now for about thirty years. Favre's tenure is over half that lengthy history, going back to Lynn Dickey, encompassing Don Majkowski, Favre, and Rodgers. Very few teams in history can make that claim. What's actually happening is that the ghouls who frequent the periphery of the contests are trying to make "bad guys" so that they appear to be shrewd analysts, which in fact, they are NOT.

Moreover, Rodgers apparently learned a lot about using resources, movement in the pocket, and reading keys from Favre. No, Favre was NOT paid to be his "mentor". But he was fortunate to be able to soak up what he did.

The truth doesn't diminish either player. And in fact, I, too, was surprised that Green Bay didn't chalk up their 13th Championship earlier.

Much of this is a concerted effort to diminish Favre's long history of starts, touchdown passes, and playing with pain and major injuries.

Again: This isn't even an ant hill, and making into a mountain is a particularly silly and ridiculous hog wash.

I'd suggest playing less attention to sensationalists looking for red flags on a "slow news day" and more to real events and genuine pronouncements.

Those comments are really quite bland, and in no way an insult to anyone.

The commentators add their own weird spin to a story which is really about Favre being surprised they didn't win the big one earlier. And by the way, so was I.

Favre started more games by far than any QB in NFL history. He wasn't perfect, but had a fantastic winning percentage, and really DID change the game with everything from shovel and jump passes to a whole, unique set of fakes and moves. Rodgers can only have gained by watching a genuine master.

No, he's not selfish. He's actually RIGHT, and in no way trying to insult anyone.

Only fools could find negativity in the real statement. Well, maybe cynical yellow journalism style hacks.....

i don't comprehend why alot of NFL followers are so dissatisfied concerning the Brett Farve Saga (as its called) of the final couple seasons. as though this never occurs in activities! hi human beings! each and all the time! My view of the difficulty is predicated at right here chain of activities and human rights regularly. a million. the eco-friendly Bay Packers corporation, sparkling off a devastating loss in early 2008, stress their hall of attractiveness quarterback to make a diificult decision no rely if or to no longer return for 2008-2009 season. Their reasoning is easy: evade yet another dreadful offseason of uncertainty. 2. Brett Farve retires from professional soccer, which has each and all the makings of a rushed decision. 3. As predicted, given the time mandatory to make an rather final decision, Brett Farve returns to professional soccer as QB for the long island Jets. 4. Farve endures a rollercoaster season as a Jet, apparenty suffering a actual breakdown at seasons end, and ubruptly ends his profession as quickly as extra. 5. among rumors and pastime from a number of NFL communities, Brett Farve explores the potential for returning as quickly as extra. that's needed word that he grew to become into approached, no longer any different way around. After consulting docs and conversing with NFL communities, Farve maintains he's staying retired. 6. Brett Farve ends his 2nd retirement and joins the Minnesota Vikings. So the place is the difficulty? He did no longer do something morally or legally incorrect. the guy is following his heart. Given his music checklist in professional soccer, he has extra suitable than earned the superb to compliment if and while to dangle up the cleats. besides, after the way he grew to become into thrown away like yesterdays newspaper in eco-friendly Bay, it would desire to be advantageous to experience needed and mandatory.

    No.

    Drivel is drivel.

And the crazy "analysis" is just plain stupid, coming from those who hate Favre. Favre was a Hall of Fame quarterback. Rodgers most likely will be. Those who see the world as "Favre vs. Rodgers" are just plain silly.

This is an area where picking sides is just plain ridiculous.

No, he isn't. But those who distort what was actually said might be the most selfish and corrupt commentators in sports history.
