Is the summer Pell Grant still around? If not, how do you fund your summer classes?

My boyfriend is Pell Grant eligible. He receives the full award of $5,500 per year. I've read something online before about a summer Pell Grant but I think due to budget cuts or something that it got cut? Is this true? How do you pay for classes in the summer then? I'm also concerned about this because I'm starting college this winter semester and I wouldn't mind taking classes in the summer to graduate faster. Thanks.

It seems as though you only get one pell grant a year, so if you use the whole thing for regular semesters then you cant get any more. You would have to save it. However, what you would have to do is apply for summer financial aid through your college. My daughter at her university had to fill out this simple worksheet just saying shewanted summer aid, her name and stuff and the classes she wanted. They then will offer you any grants or loans or anything the college offers that you qualify for since there will be no more pell. Just find out when you need to apply for that by asking your financial aid office or your advisor.

Summer Pell Grant was cut-out in some budget cuts on the federal level.

Either find a way to use less money during fall & spring semester so that there is some left over to use in summer or take more loans to pay for it

If you are starting college in spring semester, and you didn't use the amount for fall, then you could use that this coming summer... if that particular school counts summer in the same academic year...

At some schools, the summer semester is the first in the new academic year

at most schools, the summer semester is the last in the academic year

if you are going to a school where summer starts the academic year, then you need to find out how to spread the money out so that you have enough to also go both Fall & Spring

$5,500 is the utmost Pell grant you may likely get, and you will possibly desire to be going to college finished time- 12+ credit (4+ training) in the two fall and spring to get the finished subject. in case you're taking fewer credit, your grant would be professional-rated for that reason. additionally, there is not any summer time Pell grant. additionally, the Pell grant isn't meant to pay your residing costs.
