Hijab help, please????
I am an Orthodox Christian who has recently started covering. I have been having trouble with it slipping during church, because we do a lot of bowing and some prostrating during the liturgy. Is there a way to wrap/pin the shayla to prevent this? Or will I have to resign myself to buying one of those huge tied khimars from a hijab store online?
P.S. I know I already asked this earlier, but nobody actually answered my question.
@wisecrack - It is a reference to a Biblical passage. 1 Cor 11:10 "For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels." It is during the passage dealing with head covering.
@dreams - Thanks!
@Ali - I am sure your fellow Muslims on this website would not like for you to say such things. You are giving Muslims a bad name.
@Juditabandita - Thanks ... for the scarf advice
@Smile! - Thanks!

Hey :)
Just get straight pins and put them on both sides of your head close to your ear. Then it won't move. Put the straight pin through the scarf on your head and through the scarf underneath. Hope that helped!

Sister, if you wear a head band underneath which you can find on the internet, then the Hijab won't slip, and also if you wrap it around your head and then pin it then it should stay. This website has the bands; just put the cap on first then the head scarf on top :) http://www.thehijabworld.com/4-58-275-tie-back-bon... . Sister, please don't get me wrong but I think Christianity is a respectable religion, but I do not feel that it is right to bow down to the idol of Jesus (Peace be upon him). As Muslims we love Jesus Peace be upon him as God's messenger, but we believe that only God is Worthy of Worship, and therefore when we bow and prostrate we have no images or idols around us or infront of us because we Worship God Alone remembering His Attributes (The Most Merciful, Most Forgiving, The Eternal, The All-Powerful, The One and Only, The Absolute, etc) These youtube videos are good sister, watch them if you want :) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRCYVXvCu0c&list=LL... and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSCPJt14UZI&feature... Thank you sister, and I hope this helped :)
Peace

Try an al-amira scarf or get super long pins from the sewing section of any sewing shop or Wal-Mart.
Don't use safety pins, because the circular end will entrap the threads of your scarf and cause for some really bad holes, especially in nicer scarves.

Hey there. :)
You have to put pins on the sides of your scarf to keep it secure, you can start of with safety pins until you feel more comfortable.

Ali - Shut up, you can't say she'll burn in hell; only god can judge that. I don't appreciate the way you make us look like idiots who are arrogant. You never know, she maybe a better person then you, just because being labeled a Muslim, it doesn't mean you are a good one. Fool.

Scarves meant to cover hair usually stay in place. Scarves meant to hang around your neck can be very slippery.
Cotton and lightweight wool challis usually stay put. So does silk but its hot.
Two scarves can end up tugging each other. One scarf in a simple style is best. Make sure your hair is not pulling your scarf off.
Usually a style pinned under the chin or wrapped arondover thead under the chin over the head and tucked is more secure than more elaborate styles.
Of course god could be telling not to wear a muslim disguise to church.
