Advice on Volunteering/Helping?

My advice? Don't bother.

-I once felt like you and started to make a few calls to offer my help. They offered to send me an application and put me on a wait list.

Volunteering with large orgs is for wanton little losers who want to feel good about themselves and aren't doing it for the right reasons.

A better way would be to start in your own neighborhood with the people you know. Help little old ladies carry their groceries home, mow an elderly man's lawn or just simply talk to them.

Let me emphasize the talk to them part, old people love to talk and you can learn tons from them.

First off, I would like to say, "Thank you!" for thinking of helping others, we don't see many people like you, especially 15 year olds. Honestly! I'm 15 as well and most of my friends, aren't the type that would volunteer, unless I beg them to come with me, so that I don't go alone.

The answer above me about the application process is really annoying and sometimes it's not even worth it. So, choose wisely and ask if this is completely what you want to so that you're not stuck with doing something that you don't like.

I bet that in your community, there are many small non-profit organizations that need volunteers, especially those that do community outreaches, which help those in need by giving out free things, especially to the homeless. I usually volunteer with those organizations rather than the bigger organizations, as there are tons of volunteers for those already.

Trust me, there are many organizations that require you to be over the age of 16 or 18, but those are usually the big well known organizations. I know there are some small community organizations that sometimes will say you have to be a specific age, but if you're 15 and older, they usually would allow you, but email them first PROFESSIONALLY and ask. I know many people who use unprofessional emails or can't even write professional emails, it'll give them a not so great first impression on you, trust me.

-You should find an organization, non-profit of course, that helps the community and donate food and such to them. Also, you can try your community food bank(s).

-Majority of high schools usually have food can drives that you can donate to help others.

-Start a donation drive, I'm currently planning on starting one at my school, but I have a doubt that it will start, as, honestly, I find that people nowadays don't really care about helping others, and I'm SUPER busy nowadays.

-If you like helping others, you can volunteer in a hospital, but only over the summer, but you have to deal with an application and an interview process.

Just research organizations and if you're interested, then email asking for more information on volunteering, but always ask your parents before you actually volunteer.

Gee i have no idea, see uniforms make me itch in humorous locations and that i dunno how good i will get at the side of all people else at the travel, see i snore and fart allot whilst i sleep so i dunno how different individuals could like me on a 6 to nine month travel to Mars, i could want my private area (no pun meant) and individuals who stricken me at the travel could get up hogtied and filled in a shipment crate till i would get a second or 2 to compose my ideas, however rather then that definite signal me up.
