Should the AARP create their own operating system?
Windows was created by youngsters who had thousands of hours of experiance playing video games.
Because of this they are not like normal people. They are nerds who have aspherger's syndrome. They can do things with a computer that we can't understand. When ever I use a computer I get the feeling that it is playing a game with me and making a fool of me.
This is a complaint from my grandfather.
While I think his real problem is he never learned how to use a computer, it seems to me that old people are not willing to put in the time and effort required to use a computer. Could a new operating system be devised for them that would be easier to use and would not have a back door that computer experts could use to get into their computer and screw around with its programming?

Your logic is flawed.
Windows is now 26 years old and wasn't invented by "youngsters who had thousands of hours of experiance playing video games"
It was older people who invented computers in the first place. Some of the early pioneers are now long dead.
Many younger people do not put in the effort to learn computers. True, they are more used to the technology but only as users, but they have no more idea of what they are doing than when my grand-parents started using VCRs.
Studies also show that although younger people (usually under graduates) say they have better computer skills than previous generations when they are actually tested they don't perform any better at all.

AARP? Seriously?
They, like so many other mega sized, top heavy, main stream conglomerates are frozen in a Windows mind-set.
Here's their 'get some help' pages
http://www.aarp.org/technology/innovations/info-06... and you see they recommend using remote assistance from 2 other mega sized, top heavy, main stream conglomerates.
I agree with sending him down a path of least resistance at the outset: Linux.
There is NO WAY he would have the time or inclination to learn all the subtleties required to become an expert with this Windows OS when used on the 'Net. Hell, even young folks get overwhelmed with malware.
Windows as introductory home use operating system, is a guarantee of constant ball-and-chain of problems, deep security issues, and boundless headaches, which he will nag you to fix.

Yes.
Old people are getting to really hate younger computer savvy people.
There is a stereotype of a computer expert which is he is an assburger who has been tormented by the other kids when he was at school, and now he hates normal people.
Of course there is no truth behind this, but if you continue to use a computer without learning to use it, your machine can become an endless source of frustration. Therefore I am not surprised that these people have grown to hate their computers and the people associated with them.

you could download a simplified linux OS for him and put it on a usb or sd drive, and he could boot into that easily safely and securely, I recommend puppy its under 200mb's in size also.
my grandmother is in her 80's and she uses puppy and never has problems, she never used a computer in her life until a little over a year ago when my grampa passed away

There is a system add-on for Windows that will allow you to do this.
