What is a "normal" Liver Fuction Test reading?

My doctor sent me for a general blood test last month and when I consulted him for the result, he said it shows a reading of 222.5 and that means I have been drinking too much. So what is a "normal" reading?

Liver function test is the name for a number of different blood analyses which indicate the state of the liver's health. Without knowing what 222.5 refers to it is difficult to say. It could be the activity of one of the liver enzymes in the blood, such as gamma GT which when the liver is damaged by alcohol rises as the liver cells release their contents. It might be the amount of the pigment bilirubin the yellow colour causing jaundice which comes from haemoglobin breakdown. You should have this conversation with your doctor who can explain the significance of the result and how you can improve your health
