i skipped a few sentences of the person talking
i know that the how to quote a quote. i want to know how to quote a quote that starts in the middle of the original quote. I skipped a few lines of the original conversation. the original is this:
He replied, "Our father is dead! He walked the path of heaven instead of earth. His death has brought my mother to her senses and made her ashamed of her treacherous deed. I have come to ask you to return with me.

" talk talk talk, 'yak yak yak' talk talk talk". The single quotation marks inside the double quotation marks show they are quoting someone else.

indicates that the information before or after the actual segment that you use is of importance. Simple place quatations around the segement that you are using.
