Liver function test shows elevated result?
I had a liver function test that showed my sgpt result at 99 U/L and my sgot result at 61 U/L. I have had chronically elevated liver function levels but they were always just above normal and were never considered suspicious. Now my doctor is sending me to a Gastroenterologist and I'm concerned that I could have liver cancer or Hepatitis. Should I be concerned or is this likely nothing?
Also, my glucose (non-fasting) was 126 mg/dL.
I have no risk factors for hepatitis and I dont drink, so I dont see how I could have cirrhosis.

Most dogs as they age start to have higher reading in some of the liver function blood tests - but there is nothing that western medicine can/will do. I had an 8 year old dog that had liver function tests come back high and the vets office tell me their was nothing they could do. I went to a holistic vet and she was treated with a combination of homeopathy and oriental herbs and a year latter her liver functions were all within range.

It sounds like fatty liver disease which could be down to lifestyle, hormonal or genetic causes, which is easily reversible with diet and lifestyle changes and possibly medication. Dont worry too much, the liver has an extraordinary ability to recover.
In short dont worry too much you wll more than likley be fine
