What can I put down a shower drain to make it smell better?
When I first turn on my shower, the drain emits a funky odor...is there something I can put down it to take the funk away?

If this is a recent condition, you may have decomposing, organic matter in the drain. Try pouring a cup of bleach down the drain and letting it set for about four hours. I assume the shower drains normally.
If this has been an ongoing issue, your shower drain may be built incorrectly: no P-trap. A P-trap is a curved section of drain pipe that traps water in the curved section. This serves as a barrier to sewer gases so they don't come back up through the drain. If the odor smells like sewer gas, your shower drain may have a bad, or no P-trap. Get it checked out soon.

You probably have a huge wad of hair down in that drain. The cover needs to be removed and a spiral-type tool insert down in the drown to pull up the wad of hair. Make sure you get it all or else it may travel a little further down and clog the drain entirely. Then flush the drain with disinfectant and hot water. You can use Lysol concentrate and water, or Pinesol and water to flush the drain. Be careful if you are thinking of using a liquid acid drain unclogger. Sometimes it builds up gas and "explodes" and you don't want acid to go flying all over the bathroom and your skin or eyes.
I cut a wire coat hanger and straighten it out and unclog my drain with that.

remember to scrub it out. First, I propose pulling the stopper ingredient out and there is probable a gaggle of hair and different issues tangled interior the drain that should be taken out. Secondly, you're able to wanna flow purchase some drain cleansing product like draino. If that doesn't help you're able to perhaps seem into the pipes or some thing this is making that scent come out.

this will be due to bacteria in the water from last shower. cleaning the pipework and water trap with a propriety cleaner followed by regular use of disinfectant will reduce and or stop smell issues.
