poll: which is better for young children? Growing up with divorced parents or growing up with two parents?

But one parent is pretty much falling out of love with the other and is staying solely for the sake of the kids.

You can't stay somewhere that you are not happy staying there. Sure its nice if the child/children have both parents together but if the parents are always fighting and unhappy than it's not better for them. My parents divorced when I was about 2-2 1/2 and it was a bad break up. I would like to think that I turned out all right. As long as your are there for your kids and stay in their life they will be o.k. Just remember if later on in life you re-marry and have kids with that person not to neglect your other children! Being so young when my parents divorced I don't remember much of it. What was harder on me was when mom remarried and had 2 kids and forgot me kind of because my dad had full custody and we lived almost 3 hrs away from her. But we get along better since I'm a adult(26). Teen years where rough but everyone survived. If the kid/kids are having a hard time you can always get them some therapy and always remind them it is not there fault and you both love them very much and that won't ever change!

    Good luck!!

Growing up with two parents who love them and put them first, married or not. Just know that it can be more difficult to raise children and do it right when you're divorced. My ex and I have had to dig deeper and work harder at cooperating since we divorced 10 years ago than we ever did when we were married. You have to be able to set aside everything and keep the children at the forefront of your mind. It's a whole lot easier said than done.
