corporate america and veterans?
Since i have returned to civilian life (army veteran) i have noticed companies steer clear of veterans. This personally defies logic imo. Why do companies feel veterans have nothing to offer? we have been trained as professional leaders, understanding and promoting diversity and a stirct work ethic. How are these attributes not a good thing for companies? One company i applied for gave me an interview but when my veteran status came up the interviewer straight up told me that they do not hire veterans due to a military background. His logic was you have been trained to kill and our company has no place for employees with such strict protocol and disregard for human life. While the military has so many attributes that are GOOD for a corporate enviroment i don't understand the discrimination towards military personel. What do so many companies have against us? why do they feel were good enough to fight and die for them but not good enough to sit behind a desk and crunch numbers or push papers?
Edit: i have a degree in computer engineering (major) Electrical Engineering (minor) and 4 years under my belt as a retired army sgt. (E-5) how are these not beneficial to corporate america?

I answered your other question about this, and hope that helped. The interviewer who told you that their company as a policy does not hire veterans because they are trained killers is a fool and an idiot. You would be doing a lot of fellow veterans a favor by following up with that company, finding out who his boss is, and who their boss is, and going up the ladder to whatever moron sanctioned that bit of idiocy...write letters, call your Congressman and Senator, complain and fight the system. Whoever that bozo is should be fired, and whatever company that is should be shunned. Don't let this go without a fight.
But I am curious...you "retired" after four years in the Army? You weren't merely discharged, but retired? Really? Wow, was I ever in the wrong branch of the service....
