Why does it seem that people these days are just greedy?

I agree with the first two points. It's a good cause until they start bitching about wanting something for nothing; then they look like idiots.

Greed is as greed does. With a lot of this society, enough is never enough for them. This is basically a super greedy country period. If not for the little poor man, the fat cat crooks on Wall Street and elsewhere would not be rich. The protesters have made many valid points. This protest should have actually happened over 8 years ago at the tip of the iceberg. I just saw one of the protesters on the news, he said that a lot of the people out there in tents are actually homeless due to layoffs and corporate greed. They have lost their jobs to that bull. The fat rich crooked cat on Wall St. doesn't give a d@mn about those people or their survival. They just want you to keep raking over more and more and more and more $$$$$. This crap is even happening in the CHURCHES of all places! The tithes are going up all the time, and the parishioners are told to find a way to pay those tithes. It is total disgusting and ridiculous. All people care about is a dollar bill, or rather millions and billions of dollar bills. Helping "thy neighbor" is dead today basically (helping doesn't have to mean money). It's each man, woman, kid for themselves now in this violent world.

I haven't seen any of the protestors ask for #3.

Maybe there is a radical one in there saying this.

I have seen many people over the last 30 years buy into an elaborate set of rationalizations that justify selfishness and greed under the guise of "self reliance".

They are beginning to have to answer for this now.

People-have always been greedy, arrogant, stupid, ignorant, bigoted and just plain assholes. The difference between our era and the past is that more advanced forms of communication make this harder and harder to be unaware of. Man's failings are not more common, they're just better known.

Different factors may contribute to certain negative aspects, but every age has it's incentives to be an asshole.

They seem to have the idea that wanting to keep the money you work for is greed. What is truly greed is wanting what someone else has worked for.
