Why won't my son's DVD play on my MacBook?
I am not very computer literate, please help me Apple nerds. Some DVDs will play on the player and some will not. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and using the DVD Player that came loaded on the computer. I just want to play his Sword in the Stone movie. It is not a Blue Ray, but when I put the disk in it says "Supported Disk Not Available" and it does this on some of his other movies too. Do I need another type of player or is it the hardware I have on my Mac?
None of the discs I am trying to play are burned discs, they are purchased from the store out of the box.

Are these discs he bought or ones he downloaded and burned? I ask because if he recorded them off other media, even a rental disc, he must finalize the disc to play in another player. Some burners have this as an option, depending on the disc type.

It could be the region code. Also if it's a burnt DVD might not work. And also if the movie is on a cd-r it might not work
