Is the Tetracycline sold in pet stores ok to give a Parrot?
I end up with family pets they don'tt want, ended up with my brothers parrot. She seems to have a runny nose, sleeping a lot, and drinking a lot. Just to be seen by an Avian vet is 400 bucks. Before tests. I don't have that kind of money and was not expecting it to be so expensive. I am scared for her. Any help about the antibiotics above?

Petstore medicine isn't worth the money. Its also not healthy to give medicine if its not needed, you don't know what kind of illness the bird has.
A runny nose usually means the bird is lacking vitamin A. This happened when the bird is on a all seed diet. Daily seeds should not be the birds only source of food, it isn't healthy or natural. There diet should be half seed, half vegetables. Also nuts and fruits as snacks. No peanuts and avoid feeding to much sunflower seeds. No salt or sugary foods.
Though, it could also be an infection. Something may have gotten inside the nose, you will then need antibiotic nose drops from a avian vet.
She might be drinking a lot if she hasn't had fresh water in a while.
Birds need 10-12 hours of dark, quiet sleep per night.
Though, there could be many things wrong with the bird, its hard to say for sure without more information.
$400 is a bit to much. The prices where I'm from(canada, I think US is almost the same) Its $50-$100 for one bird check up, cheaper if you have more birds. The medicine/vitamin A shot shouldn't cost a lot ether.
